Copic Love

Well, long time no see... sorry I have been away.  Family emergency called us away for a bit - but I am home for now.

I thought I would share one of my new obsessions - COPIC MARKERS!  I was scheduled to attend the copic certification in Chino, CA - was really looking forward to it, and had planned to have some classes, but sadly I wasn't able to go... see family emergency above.  But, I do have some markers and they say the best thing to do is to practice, practice, practice... so I made this card for my dear friend Sam's birthday, and since she will be getting it tonight, I thought I would share:

Happycard

I just love these markers... so much fun!

oh, and the stamps are from Papertrey Ink "Friends 'Til the End" set - paper is Scenic Route Garden Grove.

Speaking of markers, I am thinking about having a marker club... but need people to sign up with me...  leave me a comment and let me know if you want more details... could be lots of fun, and you can get the markers at a discounted price... who doesn't like a bargain?!?

Hope everyone is doing well, I will catch up soon!

For the love of branching out...

One of the great things about this crazy little thing we call crafting is that it let's you express yourself in so many ways, and allows you to be you - find your niche, your style.  But even better, it allows you to explore other styles and try new things!  What is wonderful is having and making friends that encourage growth and exploration.  One such group for me is the book club at Pink Pineapple.  I just joined for this cycle, but it is so cool - a group of ladies with varying styles, supporting one another!  This session is all about Somerset - even have special guests that will visiting from Somerset!  The kit for the first month was a paper selection from Websters Pages - which I find gorgeous, but so not the style of paper I would have picked for myself.  Very shabby chic, very "girly", BEAUTIFUL!

Anyway, I thought I would share my creation for this month - since my pages aren't typically this shabby chic, or any shabby at all - this was well out of my comfort zone, I did a wall plaque.  I am very tickled with the outcome and will be proudly displaying it in my room.

Create

Can't wait to see what everyone else has created!  Thanks for looking - talk to you soon!

Have you filed?

Today is THE day... you know, the DEADLINE.  Taxes are DUE!!!  Whether you owe (like me - enter sad face here) or are getting money back - it is something that we have to do... you know what they say about Death and Taxes...

Anyway, my friend Michele has been a Tax Widow, so to speak, for the last 3 1/2 months- poor thing!  But as a treat, her fabulous, intelligent, and hard working husband (ok, I will stop -because flattery won't make my tax bill any less) has very generously requested some cookies to commemorate and celebrate his upcoming release from the TAX zone!  No dollar signs here - no they wanted something different.

In honor of THE MAN himself, the one who actually gets the money - you know him right?  UNCLE SAM... and then a little "no-taxes" sign!

No-Tax-Cookies

So cheers to all of you very helpful, and wonderful Tax helpers... where would we be without you?

Exciting News!!!

I have so many exciting things to announce, I hardly know where to begin!  Well...  I am so happy to announce that I was chosen to be on the Pink Pineapple's Design Team.  Let me tell you, the ladies at this store are phenomenal!  I can't wait to get to know them better - and from what I hear, they have quite the crops!!!  Woohoo... yay!  I love being able to share my craft with others that are just as obsessed as I am about crafty goodness!  Here are the other fabulously talented designers on the team:

Pink_pineapple_5_black

Rosie Ard

Heather Barker

Melanie Christie

Carrie Elias

Michelle Hill

Candice McLean

Jennifer Priest

Allyson Serrato

I think that being part of this team will really inspire me- and you, of course!  Can't wait to grow in my craft!  Thanks Pink Pineapple for such a wonderful opportunity!

The next exciting thing is that I will be teaching at the Desert Scrappers Retreat in May.  I was so fortunate to attend this event last year, and Laura is such a wonderful hostess - but this time, not only do I get to hang with my "peeps", but I get to teach too!  My dearest, Lolo will even be joining us, it will be a blast.  I will be in good company all the way around - the other teachers are awesome.  Might have to go check out their classes as well.  Since there will be so many other mini-books, I thought I might do something a little different and do a project class.  Do you remember the perpetual calendar that was in the May issue of Home & Heart?  Well, that is what we will be doing, only I have updated it with the beautiful papers and embellies from the Daily Grind Collection from Fancy Pants!  Perpetual-calendar

and last, but not least...

today was my birthday!  Thank you so much to all of the well wishes!!!  I have had a wonderful day!  I have to share that my hubby is a little challenged when it comes to gifts, and he blatantly ignored my request for markers for my birthday... but I got this really cool brand-spanking new Nintendo DSi... it is so cool!

Dsi_junction

it is thinner, has bigger screens, and 2 cameras.  I really have to admit, it is quite fun!  I see hours of wasted time playing instead of working!!!  Woohoo... can't wait!

Oh, and I forgot to share some of my latest cookies:

Play Ball

Made them for a friend's daughters softball team... they were a huge hit!  (No pun intended...lol)

Talk to you all soon - hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Miss You too...

Thought I would share a few fun things... I am totally into Copic markers.  Only have a few, because they are pricey, but worth their weight in GOLD.  Here is a card I made... don't you just love gnomes?

Whimsical
The stamp set is the new Forest Friendzy by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms... Love it!!!

And speaking of cards:

HappySpring
This card was made for a challenge over at Tally Scrapper... the paper is Making Memories Chloe's Closet.  Just so bright and cheery!

and I thought I would share a layout I did of my grandmother... when I was visiting her recently I came across a picture taken when she was 18...  and I had a really nice shot of her from August... I just wanted to highlight her beauty - she means so much to me!  I know, not my normal style with all of the flowery goodness, but have you seen the new PRIMA flowers?  YUMMMMmmm....

IMG_0119
The paper is a combo of Basic Grey and Making Memories and the quote says "A Garden of love grows in a Grandmother's heart"... too cheesy?  I think not in this case! :)

Hope all is well with everyone... have some exciting news to share very soon.  Oh, and I am coming up on a "blog"aversary so stay tuned for a fabulous giveaway!!!  See you soon!

Spring is in the air...

Now that we have "Sprung" forward, I feel like we are so close to spring - I can hardly believe that we are into March now?!?  Totally crazy...

Anyway, in honor of spring, I thought I would share a little project with you all.  I lovingly refer to it as the Little Birdhouse In My Soul:
Birdhouse

I used the  new Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday Collection - just perfect for all of your spring layouts!!!  Love this line so much, it is so versatile!  The bird and the flower are from Color Bok's Friendly Forest - there are so many cute characters in this new line.  Anyway, thanks for looking!  See you all soon!

Calling all cards...

My good friends at Scrap It Forward are at it again with a great challenge - they are collecting cards for a fundraiser to raise money for Autism Speaks!  So get going on your cards... here were a few I made today:

Hi_carda  Keepintoucha  ThankYouCarda

These last few I made with the new My Little Shoebox... I was so excited to get my hands on this yummy scrumptious paper!  Seriously some of the cutest patterns - and I have so many ideas on how to play with them - but for now... as part of my donation:

HelloCarda  SoLuckyaWelcomeHomea

Thanks girls for all of your inspiration!!!  If you are interested in participating, check out Scrap it Forward here!

Life is in the details...

I have been thinking about a lot of things lately (wow... that sounds really deep, eh?)- was up visiting friends and family last week and got to thinking about things that are important in life. You know, the little things - "don't sweat the small stuff" sort of things. My scrapping style lends itself to capturing not only important events in my life, but also the details. I thought I would share a layout I did about just this sort of thing. My BFF Lolo (also known as Laurie) got me this beautiful mug with a "D" on it... and if that weren't enough it has this little saying on the inside lip...

Details Details1
The paper is from the new Pink Paislee Fascinating line... and the flowers I made using paper from the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday line. Thanks so much for looking, and remember... life is in the details!
